Moses exercise

On March 27, 2007, the Moses exercise took place in Fortum Hydro, a Nordic hydropower production company. The Moses exercise is one step of Fortum's systematic development of safety and security.

VSL helped Fortum plan, manage, and document the exercise.

Exercise Moses included multiple simulated critical incidents. Personnel in various operational roles acted to solve the upcoming problems. At the same time, a Crisis Coordination Team assembled to take charge and make crucial decisions. The communication division continuously informed media and the public about the incidents and two television interviews were conducted in the afternoon and in the evening. In addition to Fortum personnel, emergency call operators from two national locations participated in the exercise.

Exercise Moses was documented in detail using CITE Observer and CITE Communicator. During the exercise 520 telephone calls were made. 211 observer reports were sent in from different geographical locations describing crucial events. The special exercise home page on Fortum Intranet had 278 unique visitors during the exercise day that visited the homepage 509 times.

Analysis and evaluation of the exercise is the next step. CITE Explorer will be used in this work to link and present events at different locations on a unified time line.
