On January 26, 2010, the Fire–Rescue Services of the Östra Götaland region, Sweden, conducted a command and control exercise.
The purpose was to train alert procedures and command and control in case of a major accident.
VSL provided support for scenario presentation, observation and evaluation.
The exercise scenario was a train accident, which had been constructed in a virtual environment using XVR.
The incident commander's appraisal of the virtual accident formed the basis for reporting to the command post and the formation of the response operation.
Overturned railway cars and many injured people were on the virtual accident scene.
Command post personnel were reinforced and organized to support the response operation on the accident scene.
VSL organized observation and data collection using structured reflective observation supported by CITE Observer.
VSL also chaired the feedback session with participants and exercise staff.
