From 1992 to 1999 the Swedish Army developed new training methods for mechanised units. The basic idea was to increase the training realism by using simulators for all important weapon systems (gun fire, artillery fire, and mines) and to document the exercises in great detail. In this way the trainees would get both more interesting exercises and better feedback afterwards
VSL participated in this project as a subcontractor to the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOA). For this project we provided the experimental instrumentation system that implemented simulation, data collection, and visualization of the exercise. We also participated in the development of new training methods.
